Mr. Thomson has a degree in Business Administration and over 50 years experience in the Construction Development and Property Management industry. Mr. Thomson has completed numerous construction industry educational courses and has obtained the ‘Certified Residential Builder’ accreditation, which includes the R-2000 qualifications. Mr. Thomson has served as President of the Canadian Homebuilders’ Association (National), Chairman and past President of the New Home Warranty Program of BC and the Yukon, past President of CHBA-BC, and President of CHBA Kamloops. Mr. Thomson has served as a member to the Canadian Commission on Construction Material Evaluations (National Research Council). Mr. Thomson is also a past Chairman of the Southern Interior Development Initiative Trust, a $50,000,000 trust set up by the provincial government to initiate economic diversification within the region.

Tori is a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) with over 5 years of accounting experience. She is currently enrolled in the In-Depth tax program and has completed year 1 of the program. Tori recently joined Plainsman after four years with KPMG where she specialized in taxation as a Senior Accountant. During her time at KPMG, she prepared notice to readers, review engagements, corporate tax returns, and audits for a diverse group of clients. Previous to KPMG, Tori worked as a staff accountant at Teck Coal in Sparwood and at PMT Chartered Accountants in Williams Lake.

Greg joined our company to manage the Ministry of Forests and Range building project. His work as Construction Manager has included cost estimations, cost control, sub-trades quotes, contracts and scheduling. Greg came to Plainsman from a fieldwork consulting company where he managed and scheduled projects from onset to project end. He worked throughout the BC interior on a variety of projects working with senior project consultants on site investigations. Greg also did public training and awareness workshops. Greg has operated construction equipment for over 10 years as he has worked on our construction projects throughout the past ten years.

Grant is a Chartered Professional Accountant (CA) with over 25 years of administrative management experience, including eleven years as the Senior Financial Administrator with Nicola Valley Institute of Technology during their major Campus Development. He personally oversaw the financial administration of the major $9 million construction project. During his 11 years at NVIT, Grant was involved in the writing of funding requests and proposals for college courses, equipment, human resources, campus development projects and a variety of other projects. Once approved and received, all administrative reporting on the uses of the funding was done at NVIT by Grant in his position as Bursar. His management experience also includes five years in the Financial and Human Resources departments for Mike Wiegele Helicopter Skiing, a North Thompson valley company with over 100 employees. At a community level, Grant has served as Treasurer for several local charities.

Bryan obtained his red seal and has been working in the trade since 2001. He joined Plainsman in June 2011 as the site superintendent. Bryan brings his skills as a journeyman carpenter to the company, specializing in high end residential homes and a variety of commercial developments. His past experience has included finishing carpentry, forming work, supervision of smaller crews, and working closely with sub-trades and consultants.

Steven has completed the Red Seal Carpentry Program and has been with Plainsman since 2013. He continually expands his education by taking courses such as blue print reading, project estimating, and telehandler/forklift tickets. Most recently, Steven has been the site manager for the Kamloops Rugby Club project. Steven was part of the Cascades Casino Kamloops project in which he aided in all aspects of construction from demolition to completion including site safety, equipment operation, fence and deck construction, and framing. In the Juniper West residential home building, Steven was involved from footing to finishing. He brings experience in operating a variety of construction equipment such as skid steer with attachments, telehandler, telescoping boom lifts, and backhoe, minihoe, and scissor lifts.
Val has been with Plainsman for over twenty one years now and is responsible for all of Plainsman’s bookkeeping aspects using the New Views Accounting System including payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable as well as providing daily reports of job costing and year end corporate records.
